GOOD FOR YOU,

you are holding one of our brand new coffee bags! As of early September, Roast Factory will be selling all coffee in 100% compostable bags. Once you finished your coffee, you leave the bag in the green waste, in which will completely dissolve within about 3 months.

HOW IT'S MADE

When it comes to waste, less is more. But when it comes to packaging, it’s not. In order to maintain the quality of your coffee, you need to keep the coffee sheltered to prevent it from oxidating. But because of a new technique, we can now do both. Protect your coffee ánd not create new waste.

PLA

That’s because of Polylactic Acid (PLA). PLA is a bioplastic made from lactic acid and renewable plant resources, like candy cane, corn and cassava. Together with craft paper, that makes a strong renewable coffee bag. Our small bag contains a zipper made of PLA, the big bags are zipper-free. They are closed with use of a sticker.

Our bags meet EN13432 standard, are certified by one of the EU professional institution DIN CERTRE. Both the bag and the zipper are fully degradable. How long it takes to completely degrade, depends on factors like temperature, humidity and the microbial landscape. Want to bury it in your garden as compost? A year later, the bags will be dissolved into water, CO2 and plant waste.
